Clive Ireland
Chair

Clive joined Shropshire MHS as a Trustee in December 2010, bringing a BA (Hons) in Business Management and extensive experience as a Practising Care Manager supporting adults with mental health support needs. He quickly progressed through the organisation, becoming Treasurer in 2011, Vice Chair in 2013 and Chair in 2014 – Clive commented it being “a position I am privileged and honoured to occupy.”
Following a significant brain injury sustained while serving in the British Army, Clive was medically discharged and spent four and a half years in hospital. Determined to rebuild his life, he became involved with an acquired brain injury group in 2002 – by 2003, Clive took coordination of the group, expanded opportunities and support for people living with brain injuries across Shropshire. This led to an expansion of external community groups which allowed for vital and restorative peer support services.
Clive commented; “I chose to volunteer at Shropshire MHS, because of the amazing work it does for people who have mental health support needs within Shropshire and Telford. During my time in the charity, I have worked face to face providing support in the community, via telephone and within Shropshire Sanctuary. I find the amazing volunteers and staff never judge, always have time and patience to listen and work passionately to provide support when it’s needed most”.
